I think it’s definitely my favourite restaurant in Tenerife that we went both Friday and Monday to have lunch at. It’s been there longer than I existed and you can really tell by the way they cook that the food is natural and fresh, like very homecooked food and desserts. We always order the same but it’s just the best grilled cuttlefish I’ve ever tried and not to talk about the potatoes that has a secret receipe that actually no one seems to know how they actually cook them? The desserts are also to die for, I tried chocolate mousse and quesillo (have no photo though) but if you google it you will find this canarian dessert receipe 🙂
So to follow up on my post from end of June about my goals to gain weight, I am really happy to write that I’ve now gained 1 kilo. I have now reached 48 something kilos and still on my way to reach 55 kilos. What I think I have done differently, is to eat more and not thinking too much what I am eating, (but that doesn’t mean I eat only candy and chips) but sometimes I treat myself with some nice desserts and always dark chocolate 🙂 We had so delicious food in Tenerife with a lot of fresh fish, potatoes, avocado, fruits and bread but almost only home cooked fresh food which is the best and healthiest. And some tapas night with ham, foie gras, cheeses and wine to 🙂
It’s so nice to spend a few days on the banana farm after being on the beach for 9 days 🙂 The weather is not the same though, it is definitely “colder” than in the south of Tenerife but I actually enjoy that for now because when we go back to Barcelona next week it’s going to be HOT! The feeling of being surrounded by this beautiful nature is amazing and I do believe it “re-charges” your batteries as nature is so disonnecting. Nature is so important for me as I grew up on the country side in Sweden and we don’t have so much “green” in Barcelona so I really enjoy walking around on the bananafarm whilst we are here and there is always new fruits and flowers to discover. Yesterday we made a barbecue in the evening and had a big family dinner (as now we are so many). The food was so tasty and sitting outside in the garden is just the best feeling when having dinner 🙂
Today I “baked” a cheesecake from a new receipe I found online with nutella! It was super easy to make actually, it took me about 15 minutes to first crush all the digestive crackers to crumbles and mix with butter, then just mix the nutella with philadelphia cheese and glace sugar, put everything in the fridge for 2 hours and sprinkle coconut on top and then it was ready. I honestly think it was way to sweet for my taste as I am more a dark chocolate fan and I like sweet desserts but with something sour that “tones the sweet down”. I think next time I will do a lemon pie 🙂
I was just looking back at some photos from our past times in Tenerife and came across this dish that I tried for the first time there: Arroz a La Cubana. His mum cooked it with “handmade” fries (nothing frozen, just natural potatoes), fried banana, fried egg (from the farm) and cooked rice. It was really delicious and I actually liked the combinations of rice and fries even for some people it may sound a bit strange.. and fried banana is always very yummy 🙂
Yesterday we drove to Alcalá which is a little town that has a lot of those natural sea pools and we spent the afternoon there before going home for lunch. It was really clear water and was perfect for the kids as it wasn’t too deep so they could play and we also had a lot of fun there. The sea was so refreshing as now it’s really hot here (about 30 degrees and up to 36), and I love the feeling of being in salt water cuz it feels like it recovers the body and makes the skin and hair much better. We ended our evening buying icecream, supertasty yoghurticecream and spent two hours at the beach before the sun went down.
