Saturday dinner

Yesterday afternoon the family arrived and will be staying with us for a week so I am really happy they are here and that I have the weekend off to spend with them ๐Ÿ™‚ It’s always so nice to have visits and there are always so many things to do in Barcelona that you don’t know where to start. We walked down to the beach in the evening to have dinner at a beachbar and the kids could play in the sand and even swam as it was still so hot. The beachbar was pretty empty, I guess because there were two superbig festivals at this time but anyway it was a nice atmosphere and we could get a table for so many people ๐Ÿ™‚ I really love these beachbars, they have good music and the best view.

Summer days

The summer is flying away and it’s soon going to be August! I feel like I didn’t blog in a long time so I will probably start posting a lot soon ๐Ÿ™‚ We had a nice summer day with some friends outside Barcelona lastย Saturday having dinner and then enjoying their pool a little. (It’s definitely on our future-house-to-be-dream-list to have a pool and a little garden :))

We spent the Sunday afternoon at the beach in Barcelona which was nice but the weather was actually very strange, windy and cloudy, not at all the typical Barcelona weather and as soon as we started to walk home it started to rain, but it was lovely with some drops cuz it was so hot! Lately it’s very humid in BCN and those days it’s even too hot to stay at the beach so I didn’t mind some wind ๐Ÿ™‚

Sunday evening we went to have dinner out and ended up in a nice hamburger restaurant by the harbour (and also had one of the most delicious patatas bravas I ever tried). It started to rain like crazy so we were happy we found this place just at the right time ๐Ÿ™‚

Sea Food

I think it’s definitely my favourite restaurant in Tenerife that we went both Friday and Monday to have lunch at. It’s been there longer than I existed and you can really tell by the way they cook that the food is natural and fresh, like very homecooked food and desserts. We always order the same but it’s just the best grilled cuttlefish I’ve ever tried and not to talk about the potatoes that has a secret receipe that actually no one seems to know how they actually cook them? The desserts are also to die for, I tried chocolate mousse and quesillo (have no photo though) but if you google it you will find this canarian dessert receipe ๐Ÿ™‚

Weight goals

So to follow up on my post from end of June about my goals to gain weight, I am really happy to write that I’ve now gained 1 kilo. I have now reached 48 something kilos and still on my way to reach 55 kilos. What I think I have done differently, is to eat more and not thinking too much what I am eating, (but that doesn’t mean I eat only candy and chips) but sometimes I treat myself with some nice desserts and always dark chocolate ๐Ÿ™‚ We had so delicious food in Tenerife with a lot of fresh fish, potatoes, avocado, fruits and bread but almost only home cooked fresh food which is the best and healthiest. And some tapas night with ham, foie gras, cheeses and wine to ๐Ÿ™‚

Bananafarm

It’s so nice to spend a few days on the banana farm after being on the beach for 9 days ๐Ÿ™‚ The weather is not the same though, it is definitely “colder” than in the south of Tenerife but I actually enjoy that for now because when we go back to Barcelona next week it’s going to be HOT! The feeling of being surrounded by this beautiful nature is amazing and I do believe it “re-charges” your batteries as nature is so disonnecting. Nature is so important for me as I grew up on the country side in Sweden and we don’t have so much “green” in Barcelona so I really enjoy walking around on the bananafarm whilst we are here and there is always new fruits and flowers to discover. Yesterday we made a barbecue in the evening and had a big family dinner (as now we are so many). The food was so tasty and sitting outside in the garden is just the best feeling when having dinner ๐Ÿ™‚

Nutella cheesecake

Today I “baked” a cheesecake from a new receipe I found online with nutella! It was super easy to make actually, it took me about 15 minutes to first crush all the digestive crackers to crumbles and mix with butter, then just mix the nutella with philadelphia cheese and glace sugar, put everything in the fridge for 2 hours and sprinkle coconut on top and then it was ready. I honestly think it was way to sweet for my taste as I am more a dark chocolate fan and I like sweet desserts but with something sour that “tones the sweet down”. I think next time I will do a lemon pie ๐Ÿ™‚

Arroz a la Cubana

I was just looking back at some photos from our past times in Tenerife and came across this dish that I tried for the first time there:ย Arroz aย Laย Cubana.ย His mum cooked it with “handmade” fries (nothing frozen, just natural potatoes), fried banana, fried egg (from the farm) and cooked rice. Itย was really delicious and I actually liked the combinations of rice and fries even for some people it may sound a bit strange.. and fried banana is always very yummy ๐Ÿ™‚
