Tapas and shopping

A dear friend of mine was visiting our lovely city for a week so we met a few times for dinner and drinks and we had a lot to talk about 🙂 We decided to go to Cerveceria Catalana her last night so she could try one of my favourite tapas -“fried camembert on a stick rolled in peanuts and with jam on top”, and we also tried their mini hamburgers, crabstickssalad with bread and shrimps with garlic (superspicy), green peppers and goatcheese with peppers. I think we were lucky to get a table outside in less than 15 minutes on a Friday evening 🙂 We ended the night going shopping (as the stores close at 22) to try to find a dress for my summer work party and I got good help to find a cute salmon pink dress that I can wear this summer (after I just get a little bit more tanned).

Lloret De Mar

On Sunday morning we drove about 40-50 minutes away to Lloret De Mar, a beachtown in Costa Brava. We had booked a hotel for a night there to have a miniholiday from the city. The hotel was just located by the beach (a 4star with halfboard included), and it looked really nice and fresh and new on the photos when we booked it, but when we went there, it was really over my expectations! It was just so cute! Nice decorations, very modern with navyblue and white colours, and the pool and the roofpool was amazing.

We stayed by the pool and in the sunbeds all afternoon and we were very lucky with the weather (as they had promised it would rain) but it was sunny most of the time and just a few clouds now and then. We walked around in Lloret de Mar by the beach and had dinner at the hotel in the evening, supernice buffet with too much to choose from and not to talk about the desserts 🙂 We ended the night with a drink by the pool and had a little walk in the centre and it was so much people out. It’s so nice to feel like a tourist for a day and re-charge your batteries for the week coming 🙂 (And the breakfast buffet was off course amazing!)

It’s almost time to get ready for the summer and as always in Barcelona it gets extremely hot during the summer months, so I have a few simple tips on how to stay hydrated that I wanted to share…

My favourite summer treats;

Frozen yoghurt with strawberries and kiwi;  it’s not the most healthy but it is probably a little bit healthier then icecream + you can choose to have it with fresh fruits that also hydrates the body for example kiwi that contains a lot of water and vitamin C (supergood for the skin as well).

Pinapple and watermelon; it’s super hydrating and it’s good to have it prepared in portions in a tupperware in the fridge (ready to go) so you can bring it to work or to the beach.

Banana icecream; cut a banana or two in pieces and leave it in a tupperware in the freezer, and when it’s frozen or “half frozen” take it out and put it in a mixer or blender and you can make your own healthy banana icecream.

Ice cafe latte; just pour a few icecubes in your afternoon coffee, (or if you do have a shaker even better) and this way it’s more refreshing to get your daily caffeine. The ideal is to mix the ice with the coffee in a blender to get it smooth, but if you don’t have the time icecubes works just fine.

Grapes; put green or blue grapes in a plastic box in the freezer and have as afternoon snack for those days when it’s just too hot outside. I promise it will be your favourite summer snack, cold and sweet 🙂

Coconut water; they do sell it in more shops now than before so it’s easy to find (even in a regular supermarket, and even in Lidl!), it contains a lot of potassium as well so it is the perfect summer drink to get extra hydrated and recovered if you maybe do some sports or just have been too long in the sun.

Favourite routine of staying fresh;

Drinking plenty of water every day (keep a bottle with you so you are aware how much water you drink every day)! I usually try to drink my 8 glasses of water but in the summer I tend to drink more iceteas and juices or other cold drinks but water is definitely more hydrating then any other sugary drinks. You can also put some slices of lemon or cucumber to get a nice taste of the water.

Washing your face with icecold water in the morning and ending the shower with one minute of cold water, (especially good for the hair to get shiny). (I only do this is in the summer though).

Having baby wipes in your bag as they are actually useful for everything and they also have a better smell than regular wipes , (I use them for my face, neck and hands when I feel sticky or just sweaty.)

C-vitamin spray for the face; (I love the Vitamin C spray from Body Shop), the best is to keep it cold before you put it in your bag so when you are at the metro or at the beach you can spray it in your face and get that fresh feeling! I feel that it also gives some kind of glow to the face 🙂

Victoria secret body spray; I love the coconut one I have as it gives me summerfeelings (I use it all year around). The body spray is a bit “lighter” than perfume and easy to take with you in your bag.

Bringing a parasol to the beach (is necessary at least for me). I love being on the beach but there always comes a moment when I think the sun is too strong and it’s just too hot, and if you don’t wanna go home it’s better to bring a parasol with you so you can stay all day at the beach but without getting too much sun:)

Use a abanico; I do feel like a typical older Spanish lady using this kind of fan, but I have to say that they really work and I think they look kind of cute, so this year I will definitely buy one in a nice summer colour.

Now it really feels like the summer is just around the corner and it’s supernice to be able to sit outside at our terrace and have breakfast even when it’s not sunny. I really love our terrace, it feels like a luxury in a big city and especially when you live in a apartment. Next project will be to organize the terrace and maybe buy some new decoration and put some lights to make it more cozy. image.jpeg

Yesterday morning I went to Ikea to buy our bed. There are 2 Ikeas in Barcelona and the nearest one for us is in Badalona, so I took the metro there and then it’s more or less 10 min walk. We usually go there by car but as I had nothing to do in the day (and I can’t drive) we said I could go and order the bed so we have it delivered by Saturday 🙂 Then we can build it together on Sunday! We sold our other bed and I had tons of bags of clothes , shoes and jackets that was hiding under the bed, so I put them on the terrace thinking I should sort everything out. But, I think the best idea will be to just give everything away, and someone is gonna be super happy as there are very cute bags and dresses I bought in Australia, but I just don’t use them anymore so it’s just taking all our space. I also bought some swedish food in IKEA like “Kaviar” and of course some sweets like “Bilar” and “chokladbollar”. This morning the bed came delivered and I just went to pick up our canvas painting for the room in Mediamarkt which is very cute and better quality then I thought! I think it’s gonna look like really nice with all white furnitures and the green photo to break the contrast. Luckily we have yellow/sandbeige walls so that also gives a lot of life to the room if everything else is white.

We had a “snackparty” with my team in the evening and it was really nice. I hadn’t seen my team since October so it was nice to see everybody again. Someone had made a dish that reminds me of humus, but instead it was made of aubergine that had been smoked, really delicious. I’m gonna look for that receipe! We just had some wine, tapas and music, it was fun 🙂

Pink salt lamp

So the other day I bought a lamp for our bedroom that is a pink crystal made of himalayan salt. I had read that this kind of lamp cleanse the air, reduce allergies, improves your sleep + your mood and also if you Google it there is a lot more health benefits. Pretty cool for just a lamp:) I also love it because it gives the room a beautiful glow, like a golden orange colour 🙂

It’s so exciting that we are gonna do a makeover in our bedroom! The other day we went to IKEA and we found a bed that we will buy with a supercomfortable mattress. The bed is in white colour so it matches with our wardrobes and it has this supersmart thing that you just lift up the bed and you have soo much storage underneath. I love it because then we can store our clothes we don’t use by season and all our towels and bedlinens. We will also buy a white table to have underneath the TV on the wall that matches the table we have in the living room, and a new bed table and a new lamp for the roof. I think it will look amazing when it’s done 🙂 We finally bought curtains for the bedroom from La Mallorquina and I just love them, they are sandbeige/golden colour with some small stripes and they give so much life and warmth to the room. Then we have been thinking about printing a photo of probably the sunset or the farm in Tenerife and either make a big canvas painting or a big glasspainting, not sure yet what will look better above the bed. ?

Me and my boyfriend has this thing that we don’t like to buy everything at Ikea because everyone always has the same things and then it doesn’t feel very special. So I think it’s better to buy decorations and some furnitures in other stores so it doesn’t look like a complete Ikea catalogue at home 🙂 A great shop were we have bought our little designchair, bathroomfurnitures and photoframes is “Casa” which has a lot of decorations and sometimes cute furnitures. I also like “Muy Mucho” for small decorations such as flowers and teacups, and off course “Zara Home” always has beautiful things (but a little bit expensive for what it is).

Our livingroom table is from Ikea and the decorations are from Casa and Muy Mucho;
