Tenerife

So I am back again in Tenerife for a little holiday (or maybe not so little with 10 days) to enjoy the summer again a bit and also to do a Spanish intensive course which I am really excited about that starts on Monday. As I have been living in Barcelona a while now, I do understand everything and I do speak Spanish when I want or need to, but, my issue is since I’ve never learned Spanish in a school I have doubts when I speak it if it’s good/bad or if I say the grammatic correct, so I really need to improve it to be able to speak it with confidence therefore a intensive course will probably help me a lot.

I arrived yesterday morning and it was so so windy when we were landing so the plane went from one side to the other (never experienced a more horrific landing) and the plane went down so fast so when we finally landed everyone was like so happy and started clapping a lotπŸ˜…. It was 33 degrees when his mum picked me up and it really felt like being back in the summer again πŸ™‚ We had some nice seafood paella for lunch and then we drowe to the south of Tenerife to spend the weekend at the beach. So yesterday I spent the afternoon at the beach and it was full of people and the sea was really calm and the weather was almost too hot πŸ™‚

Tenerife

We were invited to a wedding in Tenerife so we had a good excuse to travel here for the weekend πŸ™‚ The wedding was really lovely and it was fun to go to a Spanish wedding as I have never been to one before. It was a daywedding so we came at 12 and left at midnight after have been dancing all night! The food was supertasty, small apertisers and drinks in the super hot weather (was very warm all day) and then we had a three course dinner before the dance floor started. The ceremony was really beautiful and a little bit emotional πŸ™‚

Tapas night

Friday evening we had a tapas dinner with friends I haven’t seen in two years so it was very nice to meet again and also to meet their little new family member πŸ™‚ We tried a nice place in passeig Sant Joan (don’t remember the name now) but it was a cozy terrace outside beside the trees and supergood tapas. We had some good wine, Amazing type of patatas bravas, squids, ham, different cheeses..it was all very yummie! The funny thing was that it has been so warm in Barcelona lately, like 36 degrees last week (so we have been living in a sauna) and on Friday was the first day it was actually “cold” and we could have a sweater πŸ™‚ It was honestly so nice with some fresh air, I also love the summer but it has been too hot lately to even sit and have dinner or a glass of wine outside πŸ™‚

Sunday

On Sunday we drove early to Castelldefels and spent the whole day at the beach with the family and our friends came by. For me it was probably one of the warmest days so far so I was in the water a lot to cool down, even though the sea water now actually is quite warm πŸ™‚ We had a lovely day and had dinner at one of the beachbars, it was really good squids and patatas bravas and something I really like called baba ganoush which is like humus but with aubergine instead. I really enjoy being at the beach this year and I feel so lucky having all these beautiful places around us.

Saturday dinner

Yesterday afternoon the family arrived and will be staying with us for a week so I am really happy they are here and that I have the weekend off to spend with them πŸ™‚ It’s always so nice to have visits and there are always so many things to do in Barcelona that you don’t know where to start. We walked down to the beach in the evening to have dinner at a beachbar and the kids could play in the sand and even swam as it was still so hot. The beachbar was pretty empty, I guess because there were two superbig festivals at this time but anyway it was a nice atmosphere and we could get a table for so many people πŸ™‚ I really love these beachbars, they have good music and the best view.

Summer days

The summer is flying away and it’s soon going to be August! I feel like I didn’t blog in a long time so I will probably start posting a lot soon πŸ™‚ We had a nice summer day with some friends outside Barcelona lastΒ Saturday having dinner and then enjoying their pool a little. (It’s definitely on our future-house-to-be-dream-list to have a pool and a little garden :))

We spent the Sunday afternoon at the beach in Barcelona which was nice but the weather was actually very strange, windy and cloudy, not at all the typical Barcelona weather and as soon as we started to walk home it started to rain, but it was lovely with some drops cuz it was so hot! Lately it’s very humid in BCN and those days it’s even too hot to stay at the beach so I didn’t mind some wind πŸ™‚

Sunday evening we went to have dinner out and ended up in a nice hamburger restaurant by the harbour (and also had one of the most delicious patatas bravas I ever tried). It started to rain like crazy so we were happy we found this place just at the right time πŸ™‚

Sea Food

I think it’s definitely my favourite restaurant in Tenerife that we went both Friday and Monday to have lunch at. It’s been there longer than I existed and you can really tell by the way they cook that the food is natural and fresh, like very homecooked food and desserts. We always order the same but it’s just the best grilled cuttlefish I’ve ever tried and not to talk about the potatoes that has a secret receipe that actually no one seems to know how they actually cook them? The desserts are also to die for, I tried chocolate mousse and quesillo (have no photo though) but if you google it you will find this canarian dessert receipe πŸ™‚
