Friday evening we had a tapas dinner with friends I haven’t seen in two years so it was very nice to meet again and also to meet their little new family member 🙂 We tried a nice place in passeig Sant Joan (don’t remember the name now) but it was a cozy terrace outside beside the trees and supergood tapas. We had some good wine, Amazing type of patatas bravas, squids, ham, different cheeses..it was all very yummie! The funny thing was that it has been so warm in Barcelona lately, like 36 degrees last week (so we have been living in a sauna) and on Friday was the first day it was actually “cold” and we could have a sweater 🙂 It was honestly so nice with some fresh air, I also love the summer but it has been too hot lately to even sit and have dinner or a glass of wine outside 🙂
On Wednesday we drove all the way up to Tibidabo (in this crazy heat) to show them the beautiful view of Barcelona and so that the kids could have some fun in the attraction park. This was actually my first time entering the attraction park in Tibidado, (I have been there a few times before but only for the view). Me and my boyfriend went in the ferris wheel (and I’m so scared of heights, but it was fun after a while) and the view is really amazing! I think its definitely worth to go there, but maybe not when it’s superhot weather like it is now 🙂
On Sunday we drove early to Castelldefels and spent the whole day at the beach with the family and our friends came by. For me it was probably one of the warmest days so far so I was in the water a lot to cool down, even though the sea water now actually is quite warm 🙂 We had a lovely day and had dinner at one of the beachbars, it was really good squids and patatas bravas and something I really like called baba ganoush which is like humus but with aubergine instead. I really enjoy being at the beach this year and I feel so lucky having all these beautiful places around us.
Yesterday afternoon the family arrived and will be staying with us for a week so I am really happy they are here and that I have the weekend off to spend with them 🙂 It’s always so nice to have visits and there are always so many things to do in Barcelona that you don’t know where to start. We walked down to the beach in the evening to have dinner at a beachbar and the kids could play in the sand and even swam as it was still so hot. The beachbar was pretty empty, I guess because there were two superbig festivals at this time but anyway it was a nice atmosphere and we could get a table for so many people 🙂 I really love these beachbars, they have good music and the best view.
I think it’s definitely my favourite restaurant in Tenerife that we went both Friday and Monday to have lunch at. It’s been there longer than I existed and you can really tell by the way they cook that the food is natural and fresh, like very homecooked food and desserts. We always order the same but it’s just the best grilled cuttlefish I’ve ever tried and not to talk about the potatoes that has a secret receipe that actually no one seems to know how they actually cook them? The desserts are also to die for, I tried chocolate mousse and quesillo (have no photo though) but if you google it you will find this canarian dessert receipe 🙂
It’s so nice to spend a few days on the banana farm after being on the beach for 9 days 🙂 The weather is not the same though, it is definitely “colder” than in the south of Tenerife but I actually enjoy that for now because when we go back to Barcelona next week it’s going to be HOT! The feeling of being surrounded by this beautiful nature is amazing and I do believe it “re-charges” your batteries as nature is so disonnecting. Nature is so important for me as I grew up on the country side in Sweden and we don’t have so much “green” in Barcelona so I really enjoy walking around on the bananafarm whilst we are here and there is always new fruits and flowers to discover. Yesterday we made a barbecue in the evening and had a big family dinner (as now we are so many). The food was so tasty and sitting outside in the garden is just the best feeling when having dinner 🙂
Today I “baked” a cheesecake from a new receipe I found online with nutella! It was super easy to make actually, it took me about 15 minutes to first crush all the digestive crackers to crumbles and mix with butter, then just mix the nutella with philadelphia cheese and glace sugar, put everything in the fridge for 2 hours and sprinkle coconut on top and then it was ready. I honestly think it was way to sweet for my taste as I am more a dark chocolate fan and I like sweet desserts but with something sour that “tones the sweet down”. I think next time I will do a lemon pie 🙂
