Saturday

A friend of mine is visiting so we had a little sushidinner at home whilst watching the champions league final at home drinking wine and talking. We haven’t met since two years ago I think! So we had a lot to talk about 🙂 We got a sweet present from Sweden, candy!

imageimageAfter the game we all went to the center for a drink and that bar was very nice, don’t remember the name..but they have pens and papers that you can write your wishes on and put on the wall (so you can imagine it is full of wishes) 🙂

Summer

It’s almost time to get ready for the summer and as always in Barcelona it gets extremely hot during the summer months, so I have a few simple tips on how to stay hydrated that I wanted to share…

My favourite summer treats;

Frozen yoghurt with strawberries and kiwi;  it’s not the most healthy but it is probably a little bit healthier then icecream + you can choose to have it with fresh fruits that also hydrates the body for example kiwi that contains a lot of water and vitamin C (supergood for the skin as well).

Pinapple and watermelon; it’s super hydrating and it’s good to have it prepared in portions in a tupperware in the fridge (ready to go) so you can bring it to work or to the beach.

Banana icecream; cut a banana or two in pieces and leave it in a tupperware in the freezer, and when it’s frozen or “half frozen” take it out and put it in a mixer or blender and you can make your own healthy banana icecream.

Ice cafe latte; just pour a few icecubes in your afternoon coffee, (or if you do have a shaker even better) and this way it’s more refreshing to get your daily caffeine. The ideal is to mix the ice with the coffee in a blender to get it smooth, but if you don’t have the time icecubes works just fine.

Grapes; put green or blue grapes in a plastic box in the freezer and have as afternoon snack for those days when it’s just too hot outside. I promise it will be your favourite summer snack, cold and sweet 🙂

Coconut water; they do sell it in more shops now than before so it’s easy to find (even in a regular supermarket, and even in Lidl!), it contains a lot of potassium as well so it is the perfect summer drink to get extra hydrated and recovered if you maybe do some sports or just have been too long in the sun.

Favourite routine of staying fresh;

Drinking plenty of water every day (keep a bottle with you so you are aware how much water you drink every day)! I usually try to drink my 8 glasses of water but in the summer I tend to drink more iceteas and juices or other cold drinks but water is definitely more hydrating then any other sugary drinks. You can also put some slices of lemon or cucumber to get a nice taste of the water.

Washing your face with icecold water in the morning and ending the shower with one minute of cold water, (especially good for the hair to get shiny). (I only do this is in the summer though).

Having baby wipes in your bag as they are actually useful for everything and they also have a better smell than regular wipes , (I use them for my face, neck and hands when I feel sticky or just sweaty.)

C-vitamin spray for the face; (I love the Vitamin C spray from Body Shop), the best is to keep it cold before you put it in your bag so when you are at the metro or at the beach you can spray it in your face and get that fresh feeling! I feel that it also gives some kind of glow to the face 🙂

Victoria secret body spray; I love the coconut one I have as it gives me summerfeelings (I use it all year around). The body spray is a bit “lighter” than perfume and easy to take with you in your bag.

Bringing a parasol to the beach (is necessary at least for me). I love being on the beach but there always comes a moment when I think the sun is too strong and it’s just too hot, and if you don’t wanna go home it’s better to bring a parasol with you so you can stay all day at the beach but without getting too much sun:)

Use a abanico; I do feel like a typical older Spanish lady using this kind of fan, but I have to say that they really work and I think they look kind of cute, so this year I will definitely buy one in a nice summer colour.

IKEA

So the other day we went to Ikea after work with some friends to have a “look” only, but then we ended up buying this cute little white night table that just fits perfect with our bed and the light colours of the room. The bedroom is now more complete, but we are still thinking of buying another night table (if we have space) and also the bigger glasstable to have under the TV on the wall. We just have some measuring to do 🙂

I really love Ikea and I feel just like home when I walk around in the store. I get crazy many ideas in there and I think they are really the best on combining all their products, or like how to combine everything smart.

Since I live abroad my favourite part of IKEA is actually the food part and not the furnitures 🙂 After a stop in the hotdog canteen we bought some nice Swedish cakes and candy with us home; the famous cinnamonrolls, chocolateballs, also bought meatballs (perfect to have in the freezer when you don’t know what to cook) and one of my absolute favourites; almond cake! It’s also perfect to have in the freezer and especially if you have visits:)

Castelldefels

Sunday was such a nice afternoon spent in Castelldefels at the beach. My second day at the beach so far this year and even with sunfactor 30 I got a bit sunburned so I had to “cover” it with make-up 🙂 We had lunch with some friends in a beachbar and just relaxed and talked, had icecream and got tanned, really nice day 🙂

My salad was so good; goatcheese with honeyoil and it was served with blueberries and raspberries, so yummie and fresh. It gave me an idea to start make salads with berries, (not just strawberries) but blueberries really fit good with honey and salad, and not to mention raspberries and goatcheese. The others had paella which looked amazing and my boyfriend had fried squids which was supertasty with lemon..Castelldefels beach is so beautiful and so calm compared to Barcelona, I think maybe due to there is much more “space” as the sand is “wider” and with the mountain in the background it just looks very exotic.

Playa

Yesterday was a supernice day, not to talk about the weather 🙂 I had a big dose of D-vitamin at the beach which was necessary after the past week we had with the most cold-crazy weather. My friend thought there was a little “too much” people at the beach, well, but it truly was, and it’s gonna be even more crowded in a month when the real season starts. We spent some hours in the sand talking and then we went to have some nice food at the organic wok market just beside the beach. I love their wok with rice noodles, chicken and green curry with coconutmilk, spicy and supertasty.

In the evening me and my boyfriend went to Feria de Abril, a big event in Forum that they celebrate once a year with a lot of flamenco dancing, lots of food and activities. We just walked around eating some churros listening to the nice flamenco music 🙂

Flowers

I love this shirt. It feels like flowers are coming back and I love all flowery tops and dresses. I actually bought it without trying it on first, but sometimes when I see something it’s like I can see how it fits. It was perfect to wear today at the beach with white jeans, very summerish 🙂 image

My boyfriends cousin has a supercute fashion blog that I follow and she always knows what to wear 🙂 If you wanna get some fashion inspiration check it out as there is very cute summeroutfits 🙂

Saturday

Yesterday we had a second tapas night and we went to Gracia which is a cute and hipp area in BCN. First we did a little tour as all shops close at 22 so I showed my favourite little “rasberryplaces” from when I used to live there but a lot has also changed so we discovered a lot of new things. We found a pinchos bar in Calle Verdi that was supercrowded but we were lucky and found 3 seats in the bar. The place was really simple with loud cuban music but with good tapas and nice service. I tried chicken skewers with guacamole and yoghurt sauce, hot shrimp with tahini sauce and grilled artichoke, patatas bravas with superspicy sauce and smoked salmon with peppers, it was all supergood. We sat there a few hours eating and had the idea to go for a icrecream as dessert but we just couldn’t eat anything else so we just walked back to the centre and had a walk to El Nacional, but it was soo crowded so we didn’t stay there. I was so sleepy so I took a taxi home and watched some TV 🙂
